Compression Molding
What is it
Compression molding is a closed-mold composite manufacturing process which uses matched metal molds with the application of external pressure. It is ideal to produce uniform quantities of composite structures, at lower costs compared to any other technologies.
How it works
In this process, an engineered composite layup is placed in the pre-heated mold cavity. After the mold is closed, a uniform pressure is applied over all the surface. Heat and pressure are maintained until the composite material has been cured, thus producing an item with low void content and high fiber volume fraction.
