Carbon fibre tubing
The technology of winding pre-impregnated composite materials around a mandrel can be used to produce round, oval, tapered or cylindrical tubes. Any dimension can be customized — inside diameter, outside diameter and length — to produce anything from very slim tubes (as small as 0.5 mm in diameter) to very wide tubes (with an inside diameter of up to 2 m), without any restriction on length.
How it works
The assembly of composite materials is wound around an aluminium mandrel. It is then heat shrink wrapped. The mandrel, complete with the laminates, is then placed inside the autoclave for the carbon fibre cure cycle.
