ELECTRO NANOFIBER INTERLAMINAR REINFORCEMENT

ENIR is an Italica patent: a single layer of reinforcement that improves the performance of a carbon composite. With our innovative ENIR material, we manage to overcome the two basic downsides of any product, namely low delamination resistance and low impact resistance.

It also stands out for its extremely easy application as it comprises a very fine laminate film sandwiched between the composite materials and, once the cure cycle starts, the ENIR becomes liquid and fuses.

ADVANTAGES OF THE ENIR MATERIAL, PATENTED BY ITALICA

This cutting-edge technology results in incredible weight savings and amazing laminate strength.

Our laboratory testing has demonstrated that:

  • The ENIR process increases interlaminar fracture toughness by 20%
  • Impact resistance can be increased by up to 20%
  • ENIR offers an increase in flexural strength of between 5 and 20%
  • There is no decrease in flexural rigidity

POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF ENIR

This is a highly versatile material that can be used to make a wide variety of products, such as bicycle components and car parts, while lending itself to any other application where flexural strength is a must-have. By way of example, it has been used by the internationally renowned sailing brand Gaastra, who have chosen to use exclusively this technology in their industry.

Having lengthy experience in working with carbon fibre, we have a longstanding team of experts actively engaged in research and development. We also have an ongoing relationship with our Japanese supplier of carbon, TORAY, and have successfully developed this revolutionary patent by working with them on researching and trying out new materials.
